FACTOR Supported Artists Nominated for 69 JUNO Awards

The Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR) is pleased to announce that 60 FACTOR supported artists received a stunning 69 nominations at today’s 2011 JUNO Awards Nomination Announcement. Winners will be declared at the JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards on Saturday March 26, 2011 as well as The 2011 JUNO Awards broadcast on CTV on Sunday, March 27, 2011.

Broken Social Scene walked away with 4 award nominations for Group of the Year, Alternative Album of the Year, Video of the Year and Music DVD of the Year.

The Electronic Album of the Year Award, a new award category in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the JUNO’s was introduced at the announcement today. FACTOR supported artists, Caribou, Chilly Gonzales, Crystal Castles and Holy Fuck took 4 of the nominations in this category.

In addition the following FACTOR supported artists have all received funding in the past few years: Classified, Down With Webster, Great Big Sea, Basia Bulat, Bobby Bazini, Hannah Georgas, Meaghan Smith, Hollerado, Royal Wood, Gord Bamford, Justin Nozuka, Luke Doucet, Owen Pallett, Tokyo Police Club, Faber Drive, Cancer Bats, Emilie-Claire Barlow, Kellylee Evans, Laila Biali, Nikki Yanofsky, Christine Jensen, Jayme Stone, The Creaking Tree String Quartet, The Souljazz Orchestra, The Kerplunks, Gryphon Trio, musica intima, Eternia, Ghettosocks, Shad, Chromeo, Dragonette, Keshia Chante, Dubmatix, Lyndon John, Derek Miller, Eagle & Hawk, Little Hawk Ojiji, Del Barber, Justin Rutledge, Lynn Miles, Old Man Luedecke, Ruth Moody, Dala, Harry Manx, Jim Byrnes, The Soujourners, The Creaking Tree Quartet, Article One, Greg Sczebel, Manafest, Jesse Cook, Pacifika, Roberto Lopez, Wintersleep and By Divine Right.

Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues Launches Recycling Drive

Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues has partnered with Evergreen Recycling to launch its winter recycling drive. You will not only be helping the environment but also the work of WJB. 

Drop off your recyclables to any Evergreen Recycling location and ask the clerk to donate the proceeds to the Wreckhouse account. Alternatively you can drop your recyclables off to us at our offices at 90 O’Leary Avenue.

All money raised will go towards future projects in education, performances and the operation of Wreckhouse Jazz and Blues.

We would like to thank you all for your support of Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues.
