Volunteer of the Week

March 16, 2010

Anna Power

Each week, WJB profiles one of its volunteers as part of its commitment to recognizing all their selfless contributions to our cause. This week, our featured volunteer is Anna Power.

For the past four years, Anna has been contributing to WJB as a volunteer, which she describes as “a very rewarding & positive experience.”   There isn’t much that Anna hasn’t done over that span – her CV includes ticketing, merchandising, ushering, hosting, postering and supporting other volunteers and staff as a floater.  And she does it all with abundant, gentle joy.

Anna’s other volunteer work is similarly uplifting.  She has put in volunteer hours with Powers Within (the group who brought Pres. Bill Clinton to St. John’s) and with the Girl Guides and Beavers programs where her children were involved.  Her involvement with the ECMA, Juno’s, St. John’s Folk Festival and Festival 500 organizations are great evidence of her penchant for the music festival environment, and she greets tourists as an ambassador for the St. John’s Cruise Association.

Anna worked as an accountant for a formidable 42 years.  At 62 years old, she is currently retired.

Anna, you the WJB Volunteer of the week!  Thanks for everything from Wreckhouse Jazz & Blues!
