Gramercy Riffs – It’s Heartbreak Album ReleaseMay 20, 2010
St. John’s, NL, May 21st, 2010 — The Rock House
Gramercy Riffs will be launching their debut album It’s Heartbreak at the Rock House on Friday, May 21st. Joining them will be special guests Matt Hornell and the Diamond Minds and Mark Bragg (Solo).
Since forming in 2008, The Riffs have released two EP’s and have played with Juno nominee Elliot Brood and Polaris Prize nominees Hey Rosetta and Two Hours Traffic. They have also toured Eastern Canada with up-and-coming Indie buzz band, Rah Rah and have been selected to perform at this year’s North By North East international music festival in Toronto in June.
It’s Heartbreak, which was produced by fellow Newfoundland and Labrador artist Mark Bragg, is an 11 song LP which features songs about being in love and being apart, late nights and questionable decisions, small city life and young hearts. The band has self-coined their sound as Heartbreak/Nostalgia Pop and their music has been described as “at once both modern and retro, mixing together all kinds of sounds from the past in a way that sounds totally forward looking.”
